Rum: Pirates to Patriots

06/13/2024 05:30 PM - 07:00 PM ET

Description

Local distillery owner Jaime Windon will lead a robust discussion on her favorite spirit and America’s first distillate: rum!

Learn about the inception of American rum distilling in the early colonies, and how this notorious cane spirt came to influence culture, commerce and politics, while enjoying modern libations and a sampling of LYON RUM — named the best American Rum three years in a row by USA Today.

11 years ago Jaime was inspired by Wayne Curtis’ book: And a Bottle of Rum: The History of the New World in 10 Cocktails, to launch a rum distillery in Saint Michaels. Blending tradition and history with modern techniques and thought is at the core of LYON RUM.
